If you’re new to Lakeway, and happen to be driving down Lohmans Crossing in Lakeway, you’ll notice a lot of cars turning into a walled and gated community. The drivers of those same cars then present themselves to a guard shack, where they are scrutinized and, if everything is copacetic, allowed to enter. The place they are entering is, technically speaking, entitled The Village of The Hills, an incorporated village within Lakeway city limits. Originally built around The Hills, a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course, the Village of The Hills has become synonymous with understated and luxurious Hill Country living. Homes in The Hills range from condominiums, to townhouses, and to single family homes, and with such a diversity of options on display, of course, there is, simultaneously, a large number of different price ranges as well. Homes range from the low $300s to million dollar plus residences, some of which were built in the early 1980s, when development started, to recent, custom-built homes of more than 5000 square feet. Homes feel more natural with the large live oak and cedar trees towering over them, and this particular development has a great ambience and serenity attached to it.
Home to The Hills Country Club, which boasts not only a pool, pavilion and fitness center, and adjacent to Flintrock Falls golf course, The Hills was meant to only service the needs of those who wanted to live on an award-winning golf course, but this little village of just under 600 homes has come to mean so much more to those who live there. The Hills is serviced by the Lake Travis Independent School District, specifically Lakeway Elementary, Lake Travis middle and high schools.
