Rough Hollow

Rough Hollow

Back in the day, as far as Lake Travis locals were concerned, Rough Hollow was simply a place on the lake with the rope swing some adventurous soul had slung over the branches of a very sturdy tree.   The lake was deep enough in the cove to ensure anyone brave enough to swing out over the water on such a long piece of rope wouldn’t break their neck when they hit the water. Nowadays, Rough Hollow is synonymous with ‘Luxurious Master Planned Community.’ Tucked into the dramatic hill country in the far southwestern section of Lakeway, Rough Hollow has taken up a good chunk of what used to be scrub, and has morphed into something magnificent. The houses are Tuscan flavored, with Limestone facades and terra cotta tile roofs; the sidewalks sweep over every inch of the main roads and are seemingly endless; the landscaping is excellent and well suited to the task of preventing erosion.   Even though the first sections of Rough Hollow were lakefront, there is a large chunk of this subdivision from where the Hill Country views are preeminent.

Rough Hollow consists of many individual subdivisions (Cypress Ridge, The Overlook, The East Rim, Woodlands, The Yacht Club, Canyonside, The Bluffs, The Enclave, Water’s Edge, Canyon’s Ridge) and there are different types of homes available within each subdivision. For instance, The Yacht Club consists solely of easily-maintained villas, while the homes within Water’s Edge are large and luxurious single family homes. Of course, each of these subdivisions comes with their own price range (from the $300s to the millions) and their own set of builders, which include Coventry Homes, Scott Felder Homes, Grand Haven Homes, Standard Pacific Homes, along with other custom home builders.

Amenities in Rough Hollow are just as grand as the development.   Where once there was only the aforementioned rope swing, there is now a grand 267 slip full service marina. You can find the acclaimed Rough Hollow Grille at the top of the tram, along with a pavilion, infinity pool, spa and fitness center. Coming soon to Rough Hollow is Highland Village, what the developers are calling a “Hallmark Amenity,” a water themed village center, waterpark, and market place with restaurants, pubs, an event center, and amphitheater.

Students living in Rough Hollow would attend Serene Hills Elementary School, Hudson Bend Middle School, and Lake Travis High School.
