Need a Place to Stay for SXSW?

Austinites call it Southby.  The rest of the world calls it South By Southwest.  Whatever you call it, it can't be denied that SXSW has turned into one of the largest conferences and festivals in the world. Nearly 50,000 attendees participated in the three conferences---music, film or interactive---in 2011.  That's the official number, but of course, added in to that are the thousands of people for whom SouthBy is work: media employess or those who work in the various industries attached to the festival, or the trade shows and the like.  Of course, you also have your unoffical people who just decide to hoof it to Austin just so they can walk around downtown and SoCo listening to all the music from multitudinous bands and artists who are more than happy to play on the sidewalk (or in a parking lot, or on the roof of a pizza joint, or in the middle of the street), and who are just aching for some exposure and a shot at the big time.
That's a lot of people. And they all need somewhere to rest their weary heads.
According to the official tally,  49,815 hotel rooms were booked officially during the 2011 festival, in 74 official hotels, and over ten thousand individual reservations were booked at the same time.  Meaning that just about every hotel room in Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, Buda and San Marcos---just to name a few---were taken.  Not everyone has the clout to pick up a suite at the Four Seasons---or even at the Airport Hilton---but if you don't mind driving twenty to twenty-five minutes to get into town, Lakeway and the surrounding Lake Travis community has a lot to offer.
We have more than a few vacation rental properties to offer the discriminating SouthBy attendee.  Most rent by the week, but some, including the Schooner Cove Villas, rent by the night with a two-night minimum stay.  If you're looking for something a little more luxe (Bruce, is that you?) the units we have for rent at Marina Village might be more to your tastes.  We also have a few houses for lease as well.  Make sure you check out our availability calendar to see if that particular property works for your needs and then give us a call and we'll be happy to book it for you!  We even have a few properties that are pet-friendly!
We love our little part of Austin and we'd love to share it with you!  We may not be within walking distance of the festival---you'll definitely need a car rental if you choose to stay with us---but it sure as heck beats driving I-35 between San Marcos, New Braunfels or Buda into Austin every day!
